Metikos at International Congress of German Teachers


The Metikos program will be presented at the International Congress of German Teachers July 29 to August 3 in Bozen / Bolzano, South Tirol, Italy. It forms part of the section G 1 about "Languages in Migration, Minorities and Mobility".


METIKOS - Meeting in Donostia / San Sebastian (Spain)

Metikos project at the annual Tandem (R) Conference


The Metikos project will be presented at the annual Tandem (R) Conference at the University of Education of Freiburg in Germany. A  member of Tandem Foundation will give an overview about the existing platforms for language exchange, and describe the experiences when trying to use them for migrants. Also, he will present the first results of a presence tandem pilot project with Arabic and Basque / Spanish. The presentation will be in German. More information on


Project 2nd Transnational Meeting


The second transnational meeting in Mansle ( France, 10th May – 12th May 2012) saw the completion of the first task of the partnership – the research phase. The University of Southampton, Tandem and The Hellenic Culture House had undertaken intensive desk research into the use of language café’s, the tandem method and cyber café’s across Europe to support informal language learning, while the other partners carried out field research into the needs of their target audiences.
